I believe Clarkson described the Porsche Panamera as “looking like a dog taking a poo”, and that’s exactly how I feel about the way the Model X looks.

That was the Crossfire not the Panamera.

Honestly, they look far better in person than in photos to me. Not a pretty car, but definitely an improvement in real life. Looked sort of like a bigger Focus or C-Max to me.

Yeah, Tesla’s greenhouse design doesn’t work well at that height to length ratio.
If you take a side profile shot of the Model X, and horizontally stretch it by about 10-20%, it’ll look far better. Same, but not as bad, for the Model 3 - probably 5% is plenty.

I saw one a week or two ago. I thought 2 things:
1. It’s ugly
2. At least the owner didn’t put an electricity pun on their license plate.

Reminds me of another car that looks like it is taking a shit.

But then the Model 3 has that ugly lack of a face thing going on.

So does the Model X, and the facelifted Model S, too, though.
That’s not to say that a grille was the right answer, but rather that there’s ways to make a grille-less car look good, and Tesla chose none of them.

But both those cars have bumpers which were designed for that minimal grill. The Model 3 clearly has a spot which is supposed to have a grill in it. Get rid of that molding and it would look much better.

I think it looks like a bloated whale carcass.

I’ve seen several in person, and to me they look just as bad.

I genuinely like it. It looks very clean and minimalist. If any Civic critics are to be believed, simple designs are better.

Savage.

I used to work near a Tesla (full size) store so I’ve kind of developed a taste for the Model X.
The stock wheels and the helix wheels give a really 2003 ish Civic hybrid vibe while the turbines really do it for me. Looks are pretty subjective on Model X’s.
The blacked out ones with black Turbines are pretty dope.

Boss has one, its dope. No one would buy $100k+ minivan and its not good off road so why bother to make it a rugged SUV?

they’re stuck. the nose pretty much has to be that shape in order to comply with EU pedestrian safety regs. a grille (real or otherwise) helps hide that shape a bit. The Model 3 looks like a clown shoe.

These designs are completely different, and if you don’t see, then I don’t understand.

They’re both liftback sedans with extra ride height, so definitely not completely different. The liftback along with the CUV ride height makes them look like they’re hunched over. The Merc GLE has the same look. The fronts are completely different. BMW definitely did the “shitting dog” body style better.

Actually it was the Chrysler Crossfire that Clarkson said looked like a dog pooing:
